Join us for a Weeklong, Statewide Celebration of School Meals!

The week of October 11th is National School Lunch Week! In recognition of this, Full Plates Full Potential is hosting a weeklong, statewide virtual celebration of school meals in Maine. Starting Tuesday October 12th, join in on the fun!

Through daily themes and engagement opportunities, we’ll look at the critical value of school meals, and what needs to be done to secure their longterm future.

Wednesday: Show ’Em Some Love

10/13/21 | All day

School nutrition staff are child hunger heroes even during non-pandemic days. They’re on the frontlines of food security for Maine kids and serve as a lifeline for students who rely on school meals.

We invite you to share a message of appreciation – to an individual school nutrition professional, the entire school nutrition staff at your community’s school(s), all school nutrition workers statewide, or even share a retrospective message of thanks for the school nutrition staff who fed you during your school days.

Submit your message of appreciation to Maine’s school nutrition professionals here. We’ll share your kind words with Maine’s school nutrition staff when the School Meals Celebration Week is through and we’ll post some of the best on our social media pages.

Thursday: Lean Into Local

10/14/21 | All day

School meals are an integral part of Maine’s local food systems and, more and more, the foods being served to students across the state are being sourced locally. The local foods making their way to school lunch trays are more nutritious, contribute less to the carbon footprint, and support our local economy. Smart, and healthy!

How much do you know about the impact of local foods on Maine school menus? Take a short quiz here.

Friday: Join Us Live on Zoom!
