What if an elementary school could increase breakfast participation from 20% to 80% or more for just a few hundred dollars so kids start the day ready to learn? Or what if an investment of fewer than one thousand dollars could help start a summer meals site where kids can find nutritious meals all summer long. That’s the power of every FUND LOCAL™ project.

Empowering public schools from Kittery to Fort Kent to request support, the Fund Local platform will lead to the end of child hunger one school/district at a time. Fund Local is designed to generate support for the infrastructure and administration needed to maximize available USDA Child Nutrition funding. Right now, there are requests that you can help bring to life with a gift of any amount.

Think crowdfunding. Full Plates Full Potential works directly with the Maine Department of Education inviting school districts from across the state to initiate FUND LOCAL™ projects to address hunger in their school(s).

  1. Schools choose a project proven to reach kids who are food insecure (hungry).
  2. Full Plates Full Potential reviews every project and once approved they are posted on the FUND LOCAL™ crowdfunding platform.
  3. Projects are then promoted by school administrators, teachers, the PTA, and other stakeholders in the local community to raise awareness to fund the project.
  4. Full Plates Full Potential helps to drive donors to FUND LOCAL™ which amplifies support.
  5. Once fully funded, a project manager from the Full Plates Full Potential network works with the school to implement the project at the school.
  6. Verified data from the school and the Department of Education is reviewed and results are shared on FUND LOCAL™ and with project donors.
  7. Kids are fed and ready to learn and our community is strengthened.
