Emergency Fund
for School Closures

Around 80,000 Maine kids will be unable to access meals while schools are closed, during the COVID-19 emergency. Full Plates Full Potential has established the Full Plates Emergency Fund to support any public school district in Maine that closes due to the COVID-19 pandemic and any SFSP/CACFP sponsors operating during school closures. These emergency funds will help schools pay for increased meals, packaging breakfast and lunch meals, transporting the food to eligible sites and more. If your school has closed, please apply. If you can help, please join Full Plates and donate today.

Full Plates Full Potential has established the Full Plates Emergency Fund to support any public school district or sponsor organization in Maine that is providing meals to children during school closures caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Districts and sponsor organizations operating USDA nutrition programs (SFSP/NSLP/CACFP) are invited to apply every two weeks for emergency funds. Funds are reviewed and approved on a rolling basis.

Full Plates Full Potential and our statewide partners have created an Emergency Fund to support schools and communities serving meals during school closures. Full Plates has dedicated $20,000 to the emergency fund, but the need is urgent and great. There are over 184,000 Maine students and almost half of them rely on school meals every day. Now that schools are closing we need to ensure that these critical meals for our kids continue.

All emergency funds will go directly to schools and organizations to help them pay for food costs, packaging for breakfast and lunch meals, and transportation of meals to eligible sites and more.
