Lisbon High School – Lisbon School Department

We are looking for your support to help us to purchase a new breakfast cart for use at Lisbon High School. Schools around the state are using this type of service model to reach more kids with a nutritious breakfast. Along with the new cart, we need to add additional staff hours to accommodate this new program. We hope you can help with a donation of any amount.

Lisbon High School has a total student enrollment of 338.

  • Children in households with incomes at or below 130 percent of the federal poverty level are eligible for free school meals.
  • This school year the percentage of students enrolled in the USDA Child Nutrition assistance program is 39% or 132 students. (4 out of 10)
  • On average, just 25 of these 132 enrolled students eat school breakfast daily.

Currently, we are in our 2nd year of serving breakfast at the High School. The state average breakfast participation (ADP) is closer to 40%. There are several identifiable barriers that are keeping our kids from grabbing a great meal to start their day.  Kids are reluctant to come to the cafeteria for breakfast because they are afraid of being labeled as the poor kids.

We plan to use the funding to purchase a breakfast cart which we would locate in the front of the school where all student can grab something delicious for breakfast. Schools around the state are adopting this “grab and go” model with great success.

We need your help strengthening our community.
